Vegan – What are the Personal and Global Advantages of being Vegan

Being vegan can be a means of healthy nutrition coupled with a thoughtful, harm-free lifestyle, which had been explained when the Vegan Society had written the word veganism refers to a viewpoint and lifestyle which attempts to exclude as much as is possible and sensible all types of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for foods, apparel as well as other intent; and also by extension, encourages the expansion and use of animal-free options.

Most veganism is simply the purest method of vegetarianism. Being vegan doesn’t imply you should be a part of any organization and protest or chain yourself up.  It just simply means that you choose to follow a 100% plant-based diet for whatever personal reasons. Living a vegan lifestyle should not be an obligation but an enjoyment of good health and a respect of life.

Why be Vegan ?

A vegan diet is aimed at completely avoiding all animal products.  A vegan is usually sustained on 1/10th the amount of acreage as an omnivore.  Being vegan doesn’t indicate you will need to eat lettuce and alfalfa sprouts, all the time, because you have more foods to chose from, like raw fruits, vegetables and grain and legume sprouts , seeds, plant oils, sea vegetables, herbs, nuts and nut pastes, and fresh juices.  Vegan consumers often avoid products because they are unsure about certain ingredients, but Vegan Certification can remove any doubt about the products suitability.

There’s also an abundance of dips, chips, candies, cookies, soups, frozen pies, and other mouth-watering items by food manufacturers that are also vegan.  Like pizzas that you can make at home, or you can buy frozen vegan pizza, or they are available at your favorite pizza place. There are also vegan hot dogs available with vegan mayonnaise with vegan cheese and vegan ice cream, all of which are delicious. Vegan meals are nutritious, very fast, easy and cheap to prepare.

You may think that being vegan is a struggle because of all the delicious foods that have to be given up, however, this is not the case.  How about some vegan pancakes served warm with pure maple syrup, a sprinkling of coconut with coconut cream and a half maraschino cherry, grits with vegan cheese, delicious tofu scramble made with olive oil, sea salt and freshly ground pepper, and a slice of cantaloupe garnished with fresh cilantro. In today’s world, vegan alternatives are available for every single purpose for which we currently use animals; for example coconut milk and orange juice are important sources of nutritional calcium.

In switching to a vegan lifestyle, the food transition is easy since it’s often much easier to prepare fruits and vegetables than the usual recipes we are used to.  Your kitchen equipment expense will be considerably less because you will only need tools and utensils that will help you in preparation of vegan meals.  The basis of a vegan diet, veggies, are very affordable, that can help your budget and you do not have to worry about the continual unpredictable high rising costs of meat, diary, and eggs.

As for losing extra pounds, it’s important to remember a vegan diet does not mean giving up one’s love for food. The book “The Rave Diet & Lifestyle” and video “Eating” both authored by Mike Anderson, clearly points out the how and why of being vegan, demonstrating benefits that go beyond excellent health, and showing the affects on our environment and food supply.  There are no limitations in the amount of food you can eat, and most health professionals encourage vegans to eat as much as you want as long as the foods are not
 processed or refined.

All diets should be balanced and the vegan diet is easier than most for obtaining essential nutrition. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and fortified cereals and soy milks provide adequate nutrition for everyone, regardless of age. There are numerous specific reasons why a person should change into a vegan lifestyle but the truth is that only a small percentage have the fortitude to attempt the Vegan diet and even a smaller percentage can adhere to it, even if a future and their life depends on it.
